Hey, do you have this in black?

Uttering the words, “Hey, do you have this in black?” is one of my signature statements. Because, what is there not to love about the color black. It’s simple, elegant, and fitting for almost any occasion. And yes, it’s true, wearing black does make you look thinner. Research shows that wearing dark colors gives off the illusion that areas on the body are more contoured than they appear.

As we transition from fall to winter, you will see a trend of darker colored garments emerge as darker colors absorb more heat making it more appropriate for the colder months.

Now, let’s get into this week’s ensemble. Starting with the Zara black wrap blazer vest. My favorite characteristics of this piece have to be the added detailed features. The lapel collar, front pockets, double-breasted button closure coupled with its wrapped fit contours  and frames the upper- body to offer a perfect silhouette.

These Zara extra-long faux leather leggings are my go-to fall bottoms for several reasons. First, as a taller woman, the high waisted fit coupled with the length of the legging fits me perfectly. As you can see, the legging falls seamlessly over the boot. There is no flooding happening here. This is a tall woman’s dream.  Next, the side zipper at the hem of the legging offers a flare of versatility. I wore the leggings zipped as I wanted to achieve a more uniform and sleek style. However, if you are seeking a trendier aesthetic, you can also wear the legging unzipped.

I shared my obsession with these Zara square-toed wide stretch ankle boots in my Late But Best Dressed blog post. So, I will give you a few minutes back in your day. However, these boots ARE IT and can be perfectly paired with jeans or leather bottoms.

The beauty of wearing black is, it looks good on everyone. Don’t be afraid to welcome darker colors into your wardrobe. Darker colored items are versatile and can serve as go-to staple pieces for casual and formal wear.
